Tariff Types for Gas and Electricity Bills

Tariff Types:

DUAL FUEL TARIFF

Dual tariff is a great concept that you can apply to the energy in your property. This type of tariff will combine both your gas and electricity into one bill. The two energies will come direct from one supplier that you have chosen. This can be the best and most cost effective for yourself, but we still recommend you complete a comparison first.

CAPPED TARIFFS

A capped tariff will guarantee you the bill amount to pay for your gas and/or electricity, until the date specified. Generally, these tariffs are slightly higher than non-capped tariffs, but you will benefit by being protected from price rises for the duration of the capped period. Therefore, this may be the best option for you.

ONLINE SIGN-UP

Customers that sign up online can benefit from special rates and contracts from many providers. These are usually at lower rates as standard tariffs because of the reduced administration fees that the business encompasses.

ONLINE BILLING

Online Billing At Save On Bills

Online billing allows you to view your bills online rather than them being sent to you through the post. This tariff is usually at a lower rate as the energy providers incur less administration costs.

ECONOMY 7

This tariff includes a meter that will split your electricity usage into day and night. This generally encompasses of two rates; one for day and then one for night.

DIRECT DEBIT

Payment to any business through direct debit is a cheaper option, as you will not have to pay any handling fees. Direct debit also reduces the administration costs for your supplier therefore if you opt for this payment method you will also have a reduced cost for your energies per month.

CASH/CHEQUE

Payments Via Cheque

This option usually costs higher than paying by direct debit, as there is more administration work for your provider usually resulting you to pay a handling charge or extra fee of some sort. However, this is the easiest way to pay for your electricity and gas and is the most opted for.

PREPAYMENT METERS

This tariff allows you to pay for your gas and electricity by card. You will be given a card where you can top up in your nearest supply shop, many post offices provide this service. The amount you put on this card is then used as credit and will be used to supply your energies through the meter. When the credit runs out you will then have to re-top up the card. If you wish to transfer to an account that takes payment in other forms, such as cheque or Direct Debit, your meter will need to be changed to a standard meter. Charges may apply, please check with your supplier.

GREEN ENERGY

Green Electricity

This is the most environmentally friendly energy, which is generated through renewable methods. The energy to your property is supplied the same but it will come direct from renewable means and may cost a little higher than the other tariffs.
